In addition to being a house of prayer, a house of worship, a house of sacrifice, a house of harvest, a house of revelation and a house of healing, which is open to all who have a desire to pray and seek the deeper things of God, this vision includes paving the way for day and night (24.7/365) prayer in each of the four corners of Tokyo. Centers, which are also large enough to be incubators for businesses and ministries born out of the prayer rooms.
Another portion of the vision we have is to see the body of Christ in Japan come together in unity for a day of worship & prayer, that the church may repent of the various wrongs she’s done to the people of Japan. We believe, as it was in the day of Elijah in 1 Kings 18, the day this happens will be a sign that the spiritual famine in Japan is ended. That flood gates of heaven have finally opened and the much prophesied and anticipated “stadium days” are finally upon us. We believe this day will be a sign to the church that multitudes long ago promised are about to come into the kingdom.
In short, we desire to see “the kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven” and will not rest, nor give Him rest until this comes to pass.
Our Role in the Body of Christ
We, at The Altar IHOP, Tokyo, see our role in the body of Christ as follows:
- We function as watchmen who support, not compete with, existing ministries and organizations through our prayer and intercession on their behalf.
- We train, equip and empower believers to go out and walk in the reality of the kingdom that they may influence and impact their friends, family, places of education, employment and communities for God.
- We cast vision that others may also catch and run with the thing God is doing now and in days to come.
- We function as forerunners who pioneer and press ahead to prepare places in advance that the body of Christ at large might go there.
We are first and foremost a house of prayer based on the foundation of Isaiah 56.7 that states “… for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”
Prayer, in its myriad forms, is our foundation for all other areas of ministry.
Through prayer, we deepen our relationship with God and focus on seeking Him, seeking His face, because of who He is and not what we can get from Him. It is in this place that we can truly begin the process of walking out the first commandment found in Deuteronomy 6.5 which states, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
We believe as priests in the kingdom of heaven, our first and highest calling is to ministry before God. We also believe we are called to be kings who administer the things of the kingdom in the earth.
We are contending for every home and individual to become “a house of prayer.”
We also believe the prayers, intercessions and worship offered to God on earth reflect the worship which occurs in heaven. This is according to Revelations 5.8 which tells us, “…the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.”
